Cedar Pond's Brigida

The ewes are fluffy and hopefully will lamb in late February and early March. I did not put any ewes with my rams until late in September, with the exception of my cross-bred ewe Delilah who is due to lamb anytime now.
This is cedar Pond's Brigida, daughter of Cedar Pond's Goth & Bide-a-wee Buttercup.
Brigida looks like a 2 horned ewe but actually has 4 horns.
2 horns on each side of her head fused making the 4 horns appear to be 2 very nicely curved strong horns. Brigida is a tall lanky Jacob sheep, like her mother.

Buttercup's Lamb

This is Buttercup's ewe lamb sired by Goth , born this past spring. Her 4 horns are evenly spaced, but she broke one sparring with older ewes. She is very large compared to my other lambs, like her brothers and sisters before her. I haven't thought of a name for her yet. I think it will be a floral name starting with the letter 'B' though.

Red Dog Loves Cannon Beach !

 I ( Hawk ) love Cannon Beach , Oregon !
Why not ? I get to spend a lot of time with my best friend there and we love to throw ( him ) and retrieve ( me, that's my job ) tennis balls on the beach.
We get to eat out together in town and just about every shop seems to have a doggy water bowl out front and many of them give me treats. Yum yum.
I had to wear a coat this time when I went to Cannon Beach because it was cold. But that didn't stop me from one of my favorite activities....

...retrieving tennis balls ! I am pretty dog dang good at this too, even though I get a mouthful of sand every time I dive for the ball.

At the end of every day I was pretty tired with all the retrieving and snacking, so we would head for the Hallmark Inn where we were staying. They have dog friendly rooms and our room was not only dog- friendly, we had a full ocean view, including views of Haystack Rock and Tillamook Rock Lighthouse. Plus, we had a kitchen and a fireplace. Hallmark Inn gave me a doggy bag with lots of cool treats.

My best friend put my bed near the fireplace which suited me just fine.

 Shadow Mountain's Tonkin-Landon.
He is my new and very productive ram, barely 1 year old.
Tonkin sired a few lambs this year, and most of them are keepers. Thanks Mary!

Cedar Pond's Sassafras & New Twin Daughters

Sassafras' face markings make me smile. Doesn't she look like she is smiling back at you ? She has reason to smile though ( if sheep smile). She had twin ewe lambs 2/22/2013. I am keeping both of her lambs and am so excited about them.
The little girls are learning how to walk and suckle within the hour of birth. A true miracle when you think about it , and I do think about it.
The sisters snuggle down together in the grass hay.
Sassafras & I are so happy about these wee little girls. I can't tell how many horns they have, but that will be evident in due time. All that matters now is Mama and daughters are healthy and thriving, and that I love them.

Cedar Pond's Mally & New Ram Lamb

Mally had her wee little ram lamb ( boy ) 2/21/2013.Mally has 6 horns, but it appears she has only 2. The horns have fused , and the 3 horns on both sides of her head look like 2 impressive horns.
Mally is licking & encouraging her new lamb to stand and suckle milk, the life-giving and life-growing elixir of all newborn mammals.
Mally is very protective of her lamb, and I am unwelcome here.
Mother and son are doing very well. This little guy is growing quickly and is so much fun to watch.

Cedar Pond's Tovah & New Ram Lamb

Tovah had her first lamb 2/20/2013. The sire is Shadow Mountain Farm's Tonkin. Tovah is a naturally great mother, and her Jacob sheep heritage showed. Isn't this little guy cute?
